The Washington Capitals have officially unveiled their highly anticipated new third jersey for the 2025-26 NHL season, bringing back the iconic screaming eagle logo in a bold red design developed in partnership with Fanatics. The new uniform will serve as the Capitals third jersey for the next three seasons and will be worn for 15 home games this campaign.
Designed as a tribute to multiple eras of Capitals history, the primary red base celebrates the teams signature color and honors the 1970s and 80s with a classic white rounded shoulder yoke and traditional hem striping. A lace-up neckline adds vintage character, while the reintroduced 1990s Capitol Dome shoulder patch brings back a beloved heritage detail that fans have long wanted to see return.
The screaming eagle logo itself features a powerful eagle diving downward, symbolizing speed, strength, and dominance—qualities that define both the sport of hockey and the franchises identity. The shoulder patch incorporates the U.S. Capitol building in front of two crossed hockey sticks with a puck nestled between the blades, reinforced by two stars connecting the team to Washington D.C.
Hidden details make this jersey a collectors dream. Three stars on the pants and three sleeve stripes in red, white, and blue represent the loyal D.C., Maryland, and Virginia fan base. A District of Columbia flag loop label at the back hem creates a hidden discovery element, while the Caps wordmark appears at the inner back neck as a final nod to team pride.
The jersey also features the Coupang jersey patch, with the companys wordmark and rocket logo on the upper right chest area of both home and third jerseys. The partnership highlights Coupang—an American company that exports and builds economic bridges for U.S. businesses.
Several fan giveaways and promotional items accompany the launch, including a Jersey Rally Towel on opening night (Oct. 17 vs. Minnesota), a Travel Bag on Nov. 24 vs. Columbus, and a Dylan Strome Bobblehead on Jan. 13 vs. Montreal. Gifts with purchase include a Capitals Oktoberfest Beer Stein and a Capitals Cowboy Hat.
The jersey made its season debut on Oct. 17 and will be available for additional home games throughout the season. Fans can purchase jerseys and apparel at shop.monumentalsportsnetwork.com, NHLShop.com, and at the Capital One Arena Team Store. The Washington Nationals also joined the celebration, with players wearing Screaming Eagle T-shirts during pregame activities.
For collectors and Caps fans, this third jersey represents the perfect blend of nostalgia and modern design, honoring the franchises rich history while showcasing innovative detail work that makes each game-worn piece unique.
