Students at Saluysoy Integrated School (SIS) in Meycauayan, Bulacan, are now better equipped for the digital age after receiving 25 laptops from telecommunications leader Globe. The donation, made on January 28, 2026, aims to expand access to digital learning tools for elementary, junior high, and senior high school students in the city.
Expanding Access to Digital Learning
The laptop donation supports the City Schools Division’s efforts to provide students with the technology-assisted lessons that are essential in today’s learning landscape. With these new devices, students at Saluysoy Integrated School can now actively participate in modern digital learning activities that enhance their educational experience.
The turnover ceremony was attended by Meycauayan City Mayor Atty. Henry R. Villarica and Councilor Lester Villarica, along with representatives from Globe and the Department of Education (DepEd)-Meycauayan.
Digital Thumbprint Program for Students
Beyond the hardware donation, Globe also conducted a preview session of its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) for select students. Facilitated by Globe’s Sustainability and Corporate Communications manager Jan Merced, the session introduced learners to practical ways to stay secure online.
The DTP session guided students in recognizing fraudulent schemes, protecting personal information, and practicing responsible behavior in digital spaces. These skills are increasingly essential as students spend more time online for both learning and communication.
Local Leaders Welcome the Initiative
Mayor Villarica expressed gratitude for the partnership, stating, “We are grateful to our partners for supporting our students with these laptops. This initiative strengthens our vision of providing quality education and equipping our learners with the right tools for their future.”
Councilor Villarica echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the value of collaboration: “Partnering with our stakeholders allows us to enhance our classrooms and ensure our students are ready for the digital age. This collaboration truly benefits the community and our youth.”
Globe’s Commitment to Digital Inclusion
Yoly Crisanto, chief sustainability and corporate communications officer at Globe, highlighted the company’s broader mission: “At Globe, we believe that technology is most powerful when it empowers students to learn safely and responsibly. Providing laptops and digital literacy programs to schools like Saluysoy Integrated School reflects our commitment to bridging the digital divide and preparing the next generation for a safe, productive and connected future.”
Building Stronger Communities Through Education
The initiative underscores how collaboration between the private sector, schools, and local government can create meaningful opportunities that directly benefit students and communities. Through sustained partnerships with educators and local governments, Globe continues to support safer learning spaces by pairing access to digital tools with programs like the DTP.
As Meycauayan City continues to grow as an educational and commercial center in Bulacan, initiatives like this play a crucial role in preparing the city’s young learners to contribute positively to the country’s future while navigating the digital world responsibly.
