Lapu-Lapu City is gearing up to save lives as it hosts the World Blood Donor Day 2026 celebration on June 13, 2026 at the Hoops Dome in Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
The event, which runs from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, invites residents across Lapu-Lapu City and nearby areas in Cebu to participate in this years global observance. The theme, Dugo Ko, Kinabuhi Mo, Giluwas (My Blood, Your Life, Save It), underscores the critical importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and strengthening community health.
World Blood Donor Day is celebrated annually on June 14, and the Philippines has been an active participant in this global health initiative. This year, Lapu-Lapu City is taking the lead by organizing a full-day bloodletting activity at one of the citys most accessible venues.
According to the World Health Organization, the demand for safe blood and blood products continues to exceed supply in several countries. This makes community-driven blood donation drives like this one in Lapu-Lapu City all the more vital.
Organizers are encouraging Lapu-Lapu City residents, barangay health workers, students, and employees to come forward and donate. The event is open to all eligible donors. Participants should bring friends and family members who are willing to donate blood.
To donate, individuals must be in good health, at least 18 years old, and weigh at least 50 kilograms. Donors are advised to get adequate rest the night before, eat a light meal, and stay hydrated.
