The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Davao Region has deployed a state-of-the-art mobile soil and water testing laboratory to Panabo City, bringing critical agricultural services directly to local farmers and farm communities in Davao del Norte.
The 10-wheeler mobile laboratory is equipped with advanced testing equipment capable of analyzing soil composition, nutrient levels, and water quality on-site. This initiative aims to help farmers make informed decisions about crop selection, fertilizer application, and irrigation management — ultimately boosting agricultural productivity across the province.
Panabo City, known as the “Banana Capital of the Philippines,” is a major agricultural hub in Davao del Norte. The deployment of the mobile soil lab is expected to benefit thousands of local farmers who previously had to send samples to distant laboratories, often waiting weeks for results.
“This mobile laboratory brings the laboratory to the farmers,” said DA-Davao officials. “We want to ensure that our farmers have access to timely and accurate soil and water analysis so they can optimize their farming practices.”
The mobile lab will conduct scheduled visits to various barangays across Panabo City and neighboring municipalities in Davao del Norte. Farmers can bring their soil and water samples for free testing, with results available within hours instead of weeks.
This initiative is part of the DA’s broader push to modernize agriculture in the Davao Region and support the country’s food security goals. The program also complements ongoing efforts to promote sustainable farming practices and climate-resilient agriculture in Mindanao.
