Residents of Barangay San Juan in Surigao City who lost their homes to a recent fire are receiving much-needed financial assistance from the National Housing Authority (NHA).
Under the NHA Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP), a total of 40 families were assisted — 36 families whose houses were totally damaged received ₱30,000 each, while 4 families with partially damaged homes received ₱10,000 each. The cash aid is intended to help affected households begin rebuilding their homes and restore a sense of stability after the disaster.
The distribution was carried out in partnership with the City Government of Surigao, which continues to coordinate with national agencies to provide relief and recovery support to vulnerable communities across the city.
Local officials have urged affected residents to use the funds wisely for housing materials and basic necessities. The city government also assured that additional support from other agencies, including the DSWD, is being mobilized to supplement the NHA assistance.
