UA&P started in 1967 as a research center called the Center for Research and Communication (CRC). Over the years, it became a full university recognized by the government. Here are some important moments:

• 1995: Became an official university approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
• 2013: Became the first university in the Philippines to release a sustainability report, showing its commitment to environmental care.
• 2017: Received Autonomous Status from CHED, meaning it can run on its own without much government supervision.
• 2023: Changed the name of its School of Communication to School of Media and Marketing to better reflect the courses it offers.
