San Marino’s historic centre is alive with the sound of music today as the Istituto Musicale Sammarinese (IMS) presents the IMS Music Fest 2026 — a full-day musical journey titled “Dall’alba al tramonto” (From Dawn to Dusk), taking place on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
This extraordinary event celebrates the end of the school year and the arrival of summer with a unique program designed for every moment of the day, weaving music through the most iconic locations in San Marino’s UNESCO-listed historic centre.
A Day of Music Across San Marino
The festival kicks off at 8:30 AM with an unforgettable start: guests ride the cable car from Borgo Maggiore to San Marino City while being accompanied by live chamber music performances from IMS students enrolled in the Chamber Music course. It’s a breathtaking combination of panoramic views and live classical music.
At 10:00 AM, the youngest music lovers take center stage at Piazza Sant’Agata, where the Musicagiocando (Music-Play) department presents a special storytelling adventure for children and families outside the Teatro Titano.
Morning continues at 11:15 AM with delicate harp and guitar performances filling the evocative Oratorio Valloni on Contrada Omerelli — a perfect setting for the gentle sounds of the IMS Harp and Guitar ensemble.
In the afternoon, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the Piano Day takes over the former Monastery of Santa Chiara, where piano students showcase their talents in an elegant, historic setting.
Grand Finale: Cinema Themes Under the Stars
The crowning moment arrives at 9:00 PM at Parco Bruno Reffi, where the Orchestra and Choir of the Istituto Musicale Sammarinese perform “Cinema Themes” — an enchanting concert featuring the most iconic film soundtracks under the starry sky of Mount Titano. The performance is directed by Maestro Massimiliano Messieri, with the White Voices Choir led by Maestro Fausto Giacomini and soloist Mario Mosca.
The event is under the patronage of the Secretary of State for Culture and the Castle Council of the City of San Marino, and admission to all concerts is completely free.
Celebrating 100 Years of Musical Excellence
The IMS Music Fest also marks a special milestone: the Istituto Musicale Sammarinese celebrates its centenary, making this all-day music journey even more meaningful. The institute has been a cornerstone of musical education in the republic for generations.
