Ultimate Sevens, the bold new franchise-based global rugby sevens championship, has announced a landmark partnership with iconic sportswear brand Reebok. The athletic brand will serve as the Official Kit Partner for the championship’s inaugural season, designing and producing all on-field kits, training apparel, and fan merchandise.
This collaboration aims to merge high-performance sportswear with modern streetwear aesthetics. Scheduled to launch in Europe in September 2026, Ultimate Sevens reimagines rugby sevens for a new generation.
The competition is fast-paced, franchise-based, and built specifically for a digital-first audience. It features six clubs, with each fielding both a men’s and women’s team, competing across four European cities over four weeks.
Each match runs for 10 minutes with no traditional half-time, creating an electrifying, high-intensity format. Major sport launches consistently spark a wave of fan excitement and retail activity. Similar to how athletic apparel releases follow big schedule announcements, the debut of this tournament is expected to drive high demand for custom merchandise.
Reebok Brings Heritage and Modern Design
As part of the partnership, Reebok will combine elite performance technology with contemporary design to create bespoke kits that reflect the speed, energy, and inclusivity at the heart of Ultimate Sevens. The manufacturer plans to craft unique identities for each franchise to celebrate regional heritage. This design philosophy aligns with other major teamwear launches, such as the recently unveiled commemorative rugby jerseys celebrating three decades of Super Rugby.
Both collaborations demonstrate a growing industry focus on combining retro heritage with modern elite performance technology. The clubs represent distinct regions, and Reebok will design customized apparel to reflect their individual identities. Here are the six franchises represented in the inaugural tournament:
- England: Custom franchise identity with localized design details.
- Celtic nations: Traditional elements merged with modern athletic materials.
- France: Stylish aesthetics coupled with advanced cooling fabrics.
- Oceania: Heritage-inspired patterns celebrating the region’s rich rugby history.
- North America: Bold, forward-looking colorways designed for high visibility.
- South America and Spain: Energetic designs reflecting the passion of the fan base.
Reebok will also operate the league’s official online store and manage physical retail on match days, creating a seamless shopping experience for fans. This digital storefront will offer worldwide shipping to ensure supporters across the globe can secure their teamwear. Through partnerships with trusted international couriers like DHL, FedEx, and UPS, fans can expect reliable delivery of their merchandise directly to their doorsteps.
John Carden, CEO of Sports Hub Group, the operating partner for Reebok Team Sports, expressed great enthusiasm about the collaboration. He noted that Ultimate Sevens represents the future of rugby, being dynamic, inclusive, and built for a new generation of fans. The team is excited to bring performance expertise and cultural influence to a championship that is redefining the sport on a global stage.

World-Class Players in a New Format
Ultimate Sevens has already contracted the top 75 players on the world sevens circuit, with a player draft scheduled for July 2026. The competition is sanctioned by World Rugby and backed by Bia Sports Group, the investment firm behind English football club Sunderland. Securing elite players is key to establishing the league’s global footprint.
High-profile athletes always drive significant player jersey sales as fans rush to support their favorite stars. Ultimate Sevens hopes to replicate this enthusiasm during their upcoming draft. Four knockout tournaments will be staged across four European cities, culminating in a grand final in London on September 24, 2026.
The final will take place at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium to crown the inaugural champions. The initial player salary budget is set at £2 million, which is approximately €2.3 million.
What It Means for Fans
For rugby fans, the Reebok partnership means premium, performance-driven kits and merchandise that bring the fast-paced energy of sevens to life. Barney Pascall, Managing Director of Ultimate Sevens, called Reebok the perfect partner as the championship builds towards its debut. He noted that their heritage in performance sport, combined with a fresh and modern design edge, makes them the ideal fit.
With kit unveilings expected in the coming months, this partnership marks an exciting new chapter for rugby apparel and the growing global profile of sevens rugby. Fans can look forward to unique designs that celebrate both local pride and global athletic excellence.
