Section 01 · The Institution

What the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Is

GPCCI is a bilateral membership organization. That means it is a private body that represents German companies active in the Philippines, and Philippine companies that trade with Germany, on both sides of the relationship. It is not a government agency and it does not clear goods or issue visas. It is a business network with a working seat at the table when policy and trade are discussed.

The chamber serves as a platform for the German business community, supports the market entry of German companies, and promotes German brands, products, and services in the Philippines. In 2015 it became a member of the network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad and has traded since then as AHK Philippinen.

Why this matters to apparel buyers. A chamber is both a network and a buyer. Its member firms order branded apparel for staff, events, and trade missions, and its delegations need uniforms and conference kits. Understanding the body helps a supplier serve the firms inside it.

Section 02 · Trade Corridor

The Germany and Philippines Trade Corridor

Germany is the Philippines largest trading and investment partner inside the European Union. Goods move in both directions, and each direction has its own character. The chamber sits at the center of that exchange.

Germany to the Philippines

Capital goods and technology

German exports to the Philippines lean on machinery, vehicles, chemicals, electrical and medical equipment, and pharmaceutical goods, the inputs of an industrializing economy and its growing middle class.

Philippines to Germany

Components and consumer goods

Philippine exports to Germany are led by electronics and semiconductors, which make up the large majority of German imports from the country, followed by machinery and a steady lane of apparel and textiles.

The apparel lane

Apparel and textiles travel from Philippine factories to German brands and retailers. Under the European Union Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus, garments made in the Philippines can enter Germany at zero preferential duty when a valid origin statement is attached, which is where a documented manufacturer matters.

Section 03 · The Work

What the Chamber Does for Members

The chamber organizes its work around six service lines. Each one turns a network into something a firm can actually use, from first market study to a standing seat in an industry committee.

  1. Market Entry and Business Development

Support for German companies entering or expanding in the Philippines, covering market research, partner search, business matching, and structured market entry services.

  2. Marketing and Events Management

Event management, networking formats, and marketing support for members who want visibility inside the German and Philippine business community.

  3. Access ADB Business Opportunities

A service that helps members track and pursue procurement opportunities from the Asian Development Bank, which is headquartered in Manila.

  4. Skilled Labor Migration

Programs and guidance that connect Philippine talent with German employers, including information on the German labor market and the recognition of qualifications.

  5. Training and Development

Seminars, workshops, and the Dual Training initiative, which build practical workforce skills and improve readiness for German standards in the workplace.

  6. Government Affairs

Representation and liaison with Philippine and German government bodies, plus advocacy on the policy issues that affect German business in the country.
