The International Chamber of Commerce is the global business organization that writes the voluntary standards behind cross border trade, including Incoterms 2020 and the UCP 600 documentary credit rules. This guide explains what the ICC is, which instrument governs your shipment, and how RB Advertising manufactures and documents Philippine apparel exports to match those standards.
UCP 600 letters of credit, Incoterms 2020 delivery terms, and certificate of origin documentation for wholesale apparel buyers.
ICCThe ICC is a global business organization founded in 1919 to promote international trade and investment, with its secretariat based in Paris. Its rules are private and voluntary. They do not arrive by treaty or statute, yet banks, carriers, and courts across the world apply them every day because contracts incorporate them by reference. Importers and exporters rarely sign an ICC agreement. They simply write the instrument, such as Incoterms 2020 or UCP 600, into the sales contract or the letter of credit, and the rulebook takes effect.
Beyond rule writing, the ICC runs the World Chambers Federation, founded in 1951, which links chambers of commerce worldwide. It trains trade and arbitration professionals through the ICC Academy. It also operates Commercial Crime Services, which includes the International Maritime Bureau and the Counterfeiting Intelligence Bureau. More than 5,000 experts from member companies shape its policy positions through specialized commissions.
Why this matters to apparel buyers. When your bank opens a letter of credit under a rulebook the ICC publishes, and when your supplier contracts on an ICC delivery term, both sides are working from the same written rule set instead of local habit. That is what keeps a Manila shipment and a Frankfurt payment on the same page.
One apparel order can touch several ICC instruments at once. The ledger below maps each instrument to what it governs and where it shows up in a real wholesale transaction.
| Instrument | What it governs | Where it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Incoterms 2020 | Who arranges and pays for carriage, insurance, and customs clearance, and where risk passes. | Sales contracts and quotations, for example Ex Works (EXW) and other named delivery terms. |
| UCP 600 | The issuance and examination of documentary letters of credit. Effective 1 July 2007. | Bank payment under a letter of credit. See the letter of credit guide. |
| ISBP 745 | How bank examiners check documents presented against a credit. | Day to day document preparation by exporters and banks. |
| URC 522 | Documentary collections, including documents against payment and documents against acceptance. | Bank collections when a full credit is not used. See modes of payment. |
| URDG 758 | Independent demand guarantees and performance bonds. | Tender security and performance security on larger contracts. |
| eUCP | Electronic presentation, as a supplement to UCP 600. | Digitally presented credit documents. |
| ISP98 | Standby letters of credit. | Standby credit backing a commercial obligation. |
| ICC Arbitration Rules | Administered arbitration of commercial disputes. The International Court of Arbitration was created in 1923 and has handled over 28,000 cases. | Dispute resolution clauses in supply and distribution agreements. |
| DOCDEX | Documentary dispute resolution for banking disagreements. | Bank disputes under UCP 600, URDG 758, or URC 522. |
| ATA Carnet | Temporary admission of goods across borders without full duty payment. | Samples, trade show goods, and professional equipment. |
| Certificate of Origin | Proof of a good's country of origin, coordinated through the World Chambers Federation. | Customs clearance and preferential tariff claims. |
| ICC Model Contracts | Standard templates for international sale and distribution. | Drafting a cross border supply agreement. |
Find your situation in the first column. The second column names the instrument that governs it. The third column lists the documents RB Advertising prepares for that path.

The rulebooks only help if the paperwork is right. These are the four disciplines we apply on every export order so a compliant presentation reaches the bank the first time.

We build the set to match UCP 600 so a sight credit can be negotiated without clerical discrepancies. Read the full letter of credit workflow.
We arrange origin documents through the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry or the Department of Trade and Industry for customs clearance and preferential tariff claims.
Quotations name the Incoterms 2020 term and the named place, so risk, cost, and customs duties are agreed before production starts. See importers and exporters.
Transport documents follow the carrier's rules. Review our guide to the bill of lading and to multimodal transport services for the shipping side of the file.
Chambers of commerce, business councils, and trade delegations order our apparel for forums, trade missions, and staff programs. We manufacture in the Philippines and document the export to the same ICC standards described on this page.

Pique and performance polos with chest embroidery for chamber secretariats, member services teams, and trade mission staff.

Formal and business casual shirts finished with precision embroidery of a chamber or council mark, produced in volume.

Quick dry shirts and singlets for forums, expos, and delegation kits, printed or sublimated with event branding.
Regional partners often start with our guides to the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the World Investment Forum, and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP).
Tell us the delivery term, the destination market, and whether your bank will open a letter of credit. We will return a quotation, a document checklist, and a production timeline for your apparel program.
