History

How Tagum Cooperative Grew

A short timeline of the milestones that shaped the cooperative, from its parish origins to its current Mindanao wide network.

  1. Founded as the Holy Name Society of Tagum Parish

The Maryknoll Fathers organized the group in May 1967. It started with a handful of members and ₱80 in available share capital, and it became the foundation of today's Tagum Cooperative.

  2. FOCCUS recognition

The cooperative was recognized as a Finance Organization achieving Certified Credit Union Standards (FOCCUS) by the World Council of Credit Unions, through its Credit Union Empowerment and Strengthening program office in the Philippines.

  3. Market Branch opens at the public market

On October 17, 2011, the cooperative opened a 130 square meter Market Branch inside the Tagum City Public Market to serve vendors and nearby households.

  4. Extended office hours and TC Pay

Starting August 1, 2019, the Main Office extended service to 8:30 AM until 6:00 PM from Monday to Friday, keeping Saturdays at 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM. The same period added TC Pay for bills payment, cash in, electronic loading, and ticket payments, and widened TC Mobile app access beyond the Main Branch.

  5. Market Branch reopens after renovation

The Market Branch reopened on October 17, 2022, on its 11th year of service. The renovated office expanded from 130 to 202 square meters as part of a uniform brand identity program across all branches.

  6. Entry into the Zamboanga Peninsula

The Ipil satellite office opened in Zamboanga Sibugay, extending financial services to an underserved area and bringing the network to 31 branches and satellite offices at that time.

  7. ₱19.747 billion in assets and 192,534 members

The cooperative closed 2025 with ₱19,747,000,000 in total assets and 192,534 members, split across regular, associate, and youth member categories.

  8. 35 offices and a Visayas study

The official branch directory now lists 35 branches, satellite offices, and sub offices across Mindanao. The cooperative has publicly discussed a Visayas expansion, with strategic branch placements eyed in Cebu, Dumaguete, and Iloilo.
